Decoupage - the art of decorating an object using paper designs (printed papers, magazine sections or napkins) and special paint effects.
It has again become fashionable to recycle or upcycle!
The crafts industry is no stranger to this growing trend in the form of decoupage - the art of decorating an object using paper designs (printed papers, magazine sections or napkins) and special paint effects.
Typically, a small box or an item of furniture is covered and transformed or refurbished. Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work. Decoupage works well on multiple surfaces i.e. ceramics, wood, earthenware, terracotta, glassware, paper, metal, candles and soap.
There are several different forms of the traditional craft and retail outlets are beginning to benefit from the interest. Here are some examples of the options available through Country Love Crafts.
