HOBBY ENAMELLING


Country Love Ceramics launched the concept of "Hobby Enamelling" as a suitable additional creative activity for "Paint Your Own Pottery" studios and mobile businesses besides hobbyists at the NEC Craft Show in Birmingham in February 2007.

The principle is to sprinkle lead free enamelling powders (Sprinkles) onto copper blanks in various designs.  Further decorating of the blanks is undertaken by the addition of "Sprinkles" enamel chips or glass stripes.  The blanks are then fired in a small enamelling kiln for about 1 minute.  After about 5 minutes the decorated blank has cooled completely and may then be mounted onto "findings" to create jewellery, brooches, pendants, key rings etc.  A range of buttons are being sourced.

We supply two starter kits as detailed below.  Training in the techniques involved takes only a short time and the dates of our Enamelling Courses are listed in our training programme on this site.  The course is only half a day and costs just £69.00.  Attendance on the course earns an Enamelling Kit voucher of £40.00 that may be redeemed against either of the two starter kits.

Hobby Enamelling is suitable for children over the age of 6 years and adults.  It is simple creative fun that provides almost instant results!  The kiln is portable and supplied with a standard 13amp domestic plug and is therefore suitable for mobile businesses. 

Children or adult parties may be run in exactly the same way as pottery painting parties but your customers get to take their works of art home with them!
